Amy Stein was born in 1970, and grew up in Washington, DC, and Karachi, Pakistan. Now based in New York City, she holds a BS and MS in Political Science and received her MFA from New York's School of Visual Arts in 2006. In addition to Stranded, Stein's photographic projects include Domesticated, Halloween in Harlem, and Women and Guns. She has exhibited nationally and internationally, and her work is represented in the collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the West Collection, and the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, among others. Photographs from Stein's Stranded series will be on view in upcoming exhibitions at the Light Factory in Charlotte, North Carolina, Caption Gallery in Brooklyn, New York, and in a solo show at the Perth Centre for Photography in Australia.
