Malaysian multimedia artist Wong Hoy Cheong, born in 1960, holds a BA from Brandeis University, an MA in Education from Harvard University, and an MFA from University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He is an eclectic and prodigiously productive multidisciplinary artist who draws from myriad sources including  his own background ( the internationally educated  son of a Chinese father from a working class immigrant family and a mother from  an established Chinese Malaysian family), in his  analyses  of identity, culture, nationalism and economics.  He has a lengthy exhibition history of photography, video, painting, drawing and sculpture. His work was included in the Venice Biennale, 2003, "Re:Looking", The Liverpool Biennial, 2004, "Trigger", the  Istanbul Biennial, 2007, Oh Sulukule, Darling Sulukule, The 6th Taipei Biennial, 2009, "Maid in Malaysia", and the 10th Bienniale de Lyon, 2009-2010, "Days Of Our Lives: Reenacted photographs". His bibilogrpahy includes "Contemporary Photography from the Far East: Asian Dub Photography", Maggia, Filippo, Lazaarini, Francesca, Skira-Berenice, Milan, Italy, 2009, "Shifts: Wong Hoy Cheong 2002-2007", Singapore, 2008, among others. The Malaysian Broadcasting System, created by Mr. Wong covers the history of his fictional Malaysian Empire˘s conquest of Austria, and can be viewed on line. He is constantly traveling, analysing, and conceiving new works which contemplate the major philosophical, social, cutural and economic issues of all times!
