Katya Evdokimova is from Saint Petersburg, Russia, and is currently based in the UK and Europe. Her photographic work has appeared in magazines including the British Journal of Photography, Professional Photographer, DayFour and The Wolf. She has exhibited in multiple solo and group shows, including the Royal Photographic Society's Print Exhibition in 2004 and 2010, Scope Art Fair, Renaissance Photographic Award and London Photographic Awards in the UK, Musée de l'Elysée's in Switzerland and The Cooper Union in New York, US. Among her recent awards are The Worldwide Gala Photographic Awards, Semi-finalist in Hasselblad Masters, Shortlisted in Sony World Photography Awards and Professional Photographer of the Year, Professional Photographer magazine, UK, in Portrait category.
Katya says: "Photography is a sort of compulsion and ‘disease’ for me. I suffer for it emotionally but have moments of huge relief and absolute satisfaction when the climax, the moral ‘torture’ of idea-searching, has subsided. At times, however, the spur of the moment is more important than looking for a specific idea. And this exact option of choice is what I absolutely love about photography!"
