Yoshi Abe was born in and raised in Sendai, Japan, and currently lives in San Francisco, California. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography, from San Francisco Art Institute in 2001. The Institute awarded him the  International Student Grant  in 2000, and 2001 to pursue his studies. Individual exhibitions include the Diego Rivera Gallery, San Francisco, and Bransten Gallery. His work is currently part of  "The Project", a two-year touring exhibition of the Texas Photographic Society, juried by, Anne Wilkes Tucker, Curator of photography at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas.  He has also participated in group exhibitions at the Oakland Museum of Art, Oakland, California,  Tepper Takayama Fine Arts, Boston, Danforth Museum of Art, Framingham, Massachusetts, Palm Springs Desert Museum,  California,  Art Association of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Southern Exposure, San Francisco,  Aula Mimismagia, Roverto, Italy,  Microsoft and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura, San Francisco.  Other awards include the Project Award from the Texas Photographic Society,  Texas in 2005, Second Award at the "75th Annual Exhibition", Art Association of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in 2003.
His work was included in the prestigious "10th Annual Friends of Friends Photography Auction" in New York, in 2006. He is in the permanent collection of the Danforth Museum of Fine Arts.
