George Savakis was born in Heraklion, Crete, Greece in 1970 and studied photography in the Photography and Audiovisual Arts Department of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens (1994-2000).
He was one of the 16 best, Young Greek Photographers of 1998, selected to participate in the 10th Photosynkyria in Thessaloniki and the 5th International Month of Photography in Athens. He was awarded with the 3rd prize, at the 2nd Meeting of the 1999 Young Artists, of Vakalo School of Art & Design.
He has taken part in a few group exhibitions and a solo one.
Since 2002, he has been working as a web and e-learning designer for the University of Crete. He has also taught photography at the 1^st Institute of Professional Training of Heraklion.
