Milton Montenegro, a self-taught photographer, born in Rio de Janeiro, in 1954, has been interested in photography since childhood. While living in London, from 1975-76, he discovered its potential as a language unto itself. He returned to Brazil, and began a professional apprenticeship in Federico Spitale's publicity agency. In 1980, Montenegro founded a state of the art professional studio with Marcia Ramalho, producing advertising for Coca Cola, Shell, Esso and others. He was a pioneer in the use of digital imaging in Brazilian commercial photography.
